Special Events

Thank you to the local businesses, churches, and organizations who support us in their own way. Here is a list of those who created an event just for us in 2014/2015. Let us know if your business or organization would like to support us in your own special way. We'll help you promote it both through our website and via Facebook.

Harvest Festival Quilt: Helping Hands was privileged to receive the proceeds from this year's Harvest Festival Quilt. Thank you to all the businesses who volunteered to display it. Its tour culminated at the Hood River's Harvest Festival in mid-October. This year the beautiful quilt went to Charlene Fort, who also happen to be the glass artist who had donated a glass apple and pear to the Eat Dessert First contest. What comes around, goes around. Thank you to the entire community for your support in this raffle.

Eat Dessert First: Oak Street Pie Contest What do you need to do to possibly win $1000? Easy as baking an apple or pear pie. Congratulations to this year's winners: Melinda Chevaz (pear) and Elizabeth Terhaar! And thank you to the supporting sponsoring: Columbia Gorge Growers and Shippers, Hood River Supply/Ace Hardware, Columbia River Insurance, Columbia Bank, and, of course, the event organizers, Shortt Supply.

Beer, Broads, and Bras: Helping Hands was privileged to receive half of the proceeds from this year's event at Solera Brewing. Thank you!
