Our Story

Since 1978, Helping Hands has
developed from an entirely volunteer run safe-house network to a strong community agency with two facilities. The Chrysalis House is a 30-day emergency shelter for survivors and their children who are escaping abusive situations. Our second facility we call the YWC, provides transitional housing for survivors and their children, who have been victims of crime and would otherwise be homeless.

But shelter isn't enough to help survivors permanently end violence in their lives. Over the years, we've added services and educational opportunities for the community. Services for survivors include a 24-hour hotline, help with restraining orders and court appearances, support groups, and much more.

SAFETY ALERT: If you are in danger, please call 911, your local hotline 541-386-6603, or
